Twisted Metal has recently become plagued with remote bomb loving cicadas. These cicadas can be a real pain but if you follow this guide you'll be able to minimalize the damage done by these pests.

1. Settings - Make sure to check the settings after every game. Cicadas tend to carry lag which likes to reset the settings. If you don't notice they will. Nothing worse than a cicada flying a helicopter.
2. Vehicle Restrictions - You'll want to restrict the normal stuff like Talon and Juggs but also possibly JYD and ST. If you don't plan on using a JYD restrict it. If not you'll be facing one or most likely two. With ST either restrict or make it known before the first game that flying will get you booted. Be prepared to boot at least one. Cicadas never listen the first time.
3. Map Selection - Never pick full maps. It just allows them to collect more remote bombs and have more hiding places. Cicadas best small map is Old School. Cicadas don't tend to like the hood.
4. Remote Bombs - You and your team need to go for these right from the start. Every one you collect is one that can't be stuck to you.
5. Disregard Complaints - They will cry about anything that doesn't help them. Maybe a less skilled player on there team or when you boot one for breaking a rule. Just ignore it. It's only there version of buzzing. They wont be happy anyway so why care.

I hope this guide helps you when hosting cicadas. They're pests but they do fill the room and can be fun if handled correctly.

It does happen normally but lag makes it happen more often. I'm not blaming the cicadas for it happening. Its more about what happens if they notice and you don't.

It does not reset the settings for vehicle restrictions or traffic/pedestrians every time unless you change game modes.

Are you sure? I have forgot to check the advanced settings for a few games or more and when I went back to check the restrictions are still there. Not always but more often than not.

I must hit triangle when I go to change the map almost every time by habit even if I don't look. Good, bad habit I guess.

Point remains that you should pay more attention to settings if cicadas are near. I assume I noticed it more when they're around due to how quick they'll jump in a talon/juggs if you forget.

As a parasite Vad knows a lot about hosts. It's hard for me to dispute this.
