Yesterday was Boxing Day (basically Black Friday for us in Canada), and I picked up a new game capture device that works for both my PS3 and Xbox 360. No more pointing a camera at the television, woot! It can record 1080i on PS3, so it's certainly quite a step up. It also is compatible with Twitch streaming, so I tried a test broadcast and it seems to work pretty well. It's certainly not HD since my internet can't something like that, but it is at least fairly stable. I doubt I'll stream much TM, but if I do, I'll just throw a comment up in the chat box, or maybe post a new status or something. In the meantime, here is my Twitch account.

What's your upload speed? I'm curious to know how far you can push the threshold.

I have 3.2mbps for upload. With my PC I use roughly 2.4mbps for the stream, and no problems within the game that I can notice..

When I streamed the muse games I had the same upload bandwidth as I do now, but my Mac Pro could only process around 1.2mbps

My internet speed is 2.4mbps, but I've had issues streaming anything above (supposedly) standard quality at 340kbps. It's likely because I'm using a relatively basic Acer laptop which has issues handling most modern PC games, let alone streaming.

I can almost guarantee the laptop is the problem. Well, we know an obvious resolution to the problem, but if you can get a hold of Wirecast somehow, wink wink, that would help with processing power consumption. When I used the trial version of Wirecast on the Mac, it looked noticeably better for the same amount of bandwidth it used.

The thing that ticked me off the most with my Mac was it wasn't even maxing out, it was bottlenecking, using no more than 60% processing power. For crying out loud, It had a Intel dual quad core (8 core) @3.2Ghz/core. :@ adding 8 gigs of ram didn't help either :s

I was so eager to stream with a better quality, especially after paying more for a better internet package simply for a better upload speed. Then I get the PC......in November -.o

I wish I had my PC when I first started playing TM....I had up to 120 people on my cruddy stream the night of release and 17 people followed me that night. I was stoked. I'm sure that I would have 200 followers if the stream looked the way it does now. There was only a few people streaming TM consistently...Prodigy X(he mained Crimson Fury and had the best quality stream), Vectorilla(something like that), Ditylary (later on), and myself...I had a blast kicking ass for my viewers.

I also wished I had known back then that I had to save my streams to keep them. It would be a blast to look back at my old streams, they were alot of fun.
