I just want to reach out to the community on this note and explain what I have noticed about us (Yes US all, not just you but mistakes I am guilty of as well) on this website as a whole community.

What is this site to you? To me it's a social media gaming site that multiple players use to connect their TM gaming and have a side of slight personal connection. But why does this have to be taken through the roof? We use this site to have fun, and sometimes too much fun. In the sense that we critisize others and make assumptions about one another. When originally this website was to promote a Rejuvenation to the community, and promote cool ways to host events, or set up clan wars. When now it has turned into something I fear will mark the end of our TM community as we know it.

There has ALWAYS been drama within this community, and there always will be. The simple fact that this is a smaller community proves this. Because it's not like CoD or some stupid mainstream game where: You pop online play a few games with randoms then chances are, you never meet that handfull of players in a game again. NO this is go online play with the EXACT handfull of players you played with last night, and the night before (And maybe meet some alternate accounts along the way) and the week before even. There is no gaurantee we will be alive as a whole for too much longer to come, but this is an amazing video game, and most of us who are left have stuck with it for nearly an entire year 1/2. What do we gain from playing this game for as long as we have?

Call this cliche or corny... But this game has become a seperate part of our current lives. As much as you may hate to admit it. It's probably a fact. And there is NOTHING wrong with that. We enjoy it, and we go about our lives when we're not engaged in it. BUT THINK ABOUT IT, we've met people who some of us have even come to hang out with in real life! Hell, two of us even made a intimate relationship out of their meeting on TM! As crazy as that sounds! It happened! We've learned things from each other.

As another example JobJob even told me that he was going through an extremely rough patch in his life. But someone on THIS site someone who is a part of THIS community helped him. They encouraged him when he was going through depression. They ensured to him that they cared about his feelings, and acted as a true friend. They did everything they could to try and brighten up his life. And you know what? It helped, he told me and his other close friends that if it wasn't for this person things would be different, and he thanked this person with great gratitude on THIS website.

So you see, we are a familly of players who have actually interacted with one another. Who have actually been making differences in each others lives. When I Jacob was going through a rough time and I mildly explained my issue, and why I would be absent from the community (Which turned out not to be very long) You the community stepped up and comforted a fellow player in his misery.

But what is this connection we have brung to each other?

When you look at a human being - Whether they be a physical man/woman in life you interact with / Or a personallity you have come to analyze on the internet. In real life there are multiple factors which contribute to how you percieve someone. But on the internet, you see them for that... No more.. just THAT. In your mind you assume that's how this person is and you try to imagine what they are like in real life.

But I digress, let's take a look at an example of someone who has a reputation. And in turn is assumed to be up to par with what people know of him.

Vadimony.

That's right. Vad. We all know him, we all have experience with this person. Some more then others.

Vad is the kind of player who critisizes his mistakes, and sets to improve.

I know that in the context of how this game's attitude and vibe is taken into account, and how everyone's fun is put at risk when one tries to act all nerdy, and techy as Vad comes off as. But I think we're all taking a wrong look at him. He doesn't play to disrupt the fun. Maybe his idea of fun is different then yours? You know, he may find joy in having these deep thoughts of TM. Maybe he finds pleasure in comming up with deep and interesting things about this game?

Honestly, I enjoy the complicity, and depth this game has to offer, and I love doing the same. Only I'm less open about it then vaddy Buddy is.

Vad's strategies, and mindset for this game are set apart from anyone who is naive, or ignorant enough to think there is no depth in this game. On a game developer level it is extremely deep, even beyond belief. I'm sorry. But most of the people who say they understand most of the deep things this game has to offer, havn't even scratched the surface yet. And that's the truth, whether you want to / can believe it or not.

There is a grimm expectation for how Vadimony probably is in real life. From what we notice, and from what our analysis has gathered of Vadimony. We know that some of us perceive him as an "Asshole know-it-all" kind of person. However the simple fact is that Vadimony could be one of the most respectful, and even one of the most successful people in real life. I'm In no way trying to kiss up to Vadimony, or even defend him. I'm just getting at the point that none of us know. None of us have the knowledge, or the experience with who Vad really is to get to the conclusion of how we should judge him. And that goes for ANYBODY in this community.

The point is you can't judge Vadimony for possibly wanting to improve his game, and finding joy in doing so. Why else would he play a game? He finds it fun. As i said maybe his idea of fun is different then that of your own. And shouldn't people who have legit fun without doing anything wrong be free of critisism, and allowed to endow in fun in their own way? =D Furthermore, then there is that other issue. When ones fun gets in the way of anothers fun. In this case: Let Vad do his thing! If he has a different idea of fun then you in the sense of Twisted Metal. For example: He believes that certain things are OP'd and unlegit for clan wars and you disagree? Well, all I have to say to you is.. Fu ck it? Just don't WAR VISA!! Or come to a COMPRIMISE!!

The people of this site who have contributed to the site with their personal information. Whether it be pictures, or blogs, or even just straight up talking about themselves. That actually is probably displaying a glimpse of how one is in real life. So there IS that, however the level of personal connection is still NOT completely there. And that's GOOD! This is NOT TM FACEBOOK. However it is a social media, because it's a good site with great people. =D

And on that note, this all ends my super, super long rambly post on things I have been thinking about as of late. Hope you didn't snore because this is going on all around ALL OF US. Whether you realize it or not.

If people know each other well enough to meet up in real life then get down and dirty why wouldn't they know someone well enough to state the obvious? Vad has spent a year and half earning the rep he's got. If he decided to man up today and admit his mistakes in a real way and change people would change their view of him. He wont and that's on him alone. The problem with his view on things like SB's turbo ram is that if Visa got a ST that liked to use it tomorrow he'd change his opinion. See his change of opinion on RPG's if you need proof. Or better yet how he wanted to use Talon in battles cuz Meph said it was a good idea. He spent a year complaining about Talon then the second the leader of his clan wants to use it he's all about the copter. He wins every argument in his own head and is willing to screw anyone over to win at a fucking video game. If he loses he calls it a scrim. He's earned his tag of the most low character worthless loser that has ever played TM. He's made himself a joke all own his own. I could care less if he's successful in real life. I care about how he's acted within this community over the last year and a half. He could be successful and still be a total prick though i doubt it. I'll end with this, Vad himself even realizes how big of an asshole he is which is why he's so "private" lol. He knows his actions could push someone far enough to come smack him so he takes precautions to prevent that. Most would try to not be an asshole. He just tries to prevent himself from catching a beatdown. I try to avoid bashing him but if you feel the need to make such a long post to try and excuse his actions, a lot of which you don't even know about, then well fuck it.

Firstly: I am not "Focusing in on Vad" I used him as an example that most would recognize.

Second: His case is different, Apu. In the sense that he doesn't open up about his personal life. Where as the 2 who are Intimatly in a relationship have.

Lastly: Did I say I knew how his life was? The fact is as i said no one knows enough to come to the conclusion. You can have speculations.. sure. That's not even the message in the post anyway. Funny how you accuse me of zeroing in on Vad yet you only realize the part about Vad which has nothing to do with the entirety of the message I put forth.

I agree with most of what you said in a general sense but think you picked the exception to the rule as your example. You gotta admit about half of what you wrote was about him directly. I don't think you meant to make a thread about him. Its just when you use him as your primary example it makes it hard to see the actual point. When i started reading it i was like wtf who hooked up and by the end i didn't even care.

To your actual point I think this site is whatever its members make it and nothing more. It could be a gaming facebook kinda thing if that's what people want. Im not saying thats good or bad. How can you say the personal connections isn't there like facebook when your first examples are of people hooking up and really helping others out. Either is a personal connection in my book. I think you made a well intentioned post and got off track a bit. I do the same thing quite a bit.

This is not a Facebook, this is better than Facebook!
Twisted Metal is my first online game that I play for such a long time. And I want to say Thanks to this game and community, for the fact that I had the opportunity to meet such wonderful people. This game does have at least a small value for all of us. Most people know each other, or played with each other only a few times.. not so important, but we are all like one big TM family; so cool!
You're right, even I found a best friend through this site\game. It's more than just words; this man literally saved me, always supports me, and only because of this man I can smile. This is a priceless gift to me from community.
Yeah.. Blah blah blah Maiu, shut up!
P.S. Again Vadimony.. He's everywhere!
P.S.S. Sorry for my English ;D

I've played since the game came out, and just recently have I opened up and started talking to people on a personal level.I dont think anyone bought this game to find friends. It just happens. I think its great that people make connections and get the help they need from this tight knit community. Not everyone has a rock star private life. Whatever it takes to make people happy and keep playing this awesome game.

This topic was not to promote the thought that the site is a horrible place... To be honest, I'm rather dissapointed in myself for putting a post I thought pretty damn long and hard about and most of you guys don't see the overall point. Well It's like this I basically summarized some things that go on here. The bad first then drifted towards the great, and positive things. But on the internet we don't know one another. But if one chooses to open up to their friends so be it! It's a positive message but most of you gathered it in a negative aura. It's cool though. That's my own fault! I'll try to work on that.

Weeellll Jcub, I will say this when It comes to arguments between ppl its best to stay away from the subject if u have no issue with either party.
When ppl don't like one another, there's probably a reason why and its best to not get involved, just to avoid the headache ur self u know lol..., But yes u are correct as to this game been a small part of our lives and that's great I mean I know Im the weirdo of the TM family cuz ive met many of the TM ppls in real life =D and ive never regretted it =).

One things though I may disagree with u is, the way ppl carry them selves in this game may not be the way the are in real life, THAT I highly doubt, I've actually seen first hand that the way ppl carry them selves in this game ACTUALLY is the same way they are in real life. Mostly in a Good way of course =)

I for one am one of those people that carries them selves in the same manner IN and OUT of the game I don't like to be a BITCH in a game just cuz im hiding behind a screen NO! to the contrary I try to be that one person u can count on and trust shit ill be ur personal therapist if u need me too (which I have in many occasions) lol cuz that just the way I am ^_^ plus "U REAPE WHAT U SOW" all our actions whether in life or in this game have consequences (and I refer to this game because we constantly interact with the same ppl)

Cya in The Game (^L^)

I completely understand what Jcub is getting at......using Vadimony as an example is good in its own perspective. We as players come to this website to be social and connect with other players.....some on a negative level. I will publicly say that THIS IS MY FACEBOOK......that is what this site means to me. I have been solely been playing Twisted Metal since PSX and this site has bridged the gap between Twisted Metal just being a game title. Through time I have grown to have connections with many players.....people....and don't regret it. We are humans first and Twisted Metal is the common ground. As this is Twisted Metal oriented, I agree that the drama should not have a home at twistedclans.tk ......we are all adults here and have common ground. Remember? "We Will Not Be Ignored Sony"!!!

I love this community!!!

TM4L!!!!

Vadimony I apologize for the mean things I have said to you and realize that you are your own person. I do have respect for people and am man enough to admit my mistakes. I respect you, even though I don't agree with everything you do, as a person. My apologies and Good Luck with VISA.

QuoteTrololoool! In-sti-ga-tion-ary tactics!

Now I'm off to partake in non-Twisted Metal related... stuff. Although, if we are on the topic of Vadimony, I might as well interject. You do have to respect his excellent grammar. I find it helps oneself reflect inter-intellect.

P.S.
My bad, I was using it like Facebook. Which is ironic, seeing how I have not used Facebook it about a year or so.
Lmao! Really, bro!? You troll, teach me your epic ways!! XD

I've been in a lot of gaming communities over the years, and have gotten to establish friendships with people across borders in-game, on websites, or through other means which allow gamers to communicate. Some of these people I still talk with on a regular basis, like here on TC. Although these friendships are genuine, I have never attained a long-distance friendship that has resonated on a personal level in gaming communities, nor have I strove to. I've been more of a withdrawn personality around these parts, in the sense that I don't post images of myself, and I don't really talk much of my real life, and neither do I dive head-first into a discussion when things get personal.

The fact is, I'm a bit of a misanthropist, which is one of the major reasons I don't get touchy-feely around here. For many, Twisted Metal has become such an important part of their real lives, they're fusing their "TM being" with their real lives. For me, Twisted Metal remains quite the opposite, and remains an escape from real life. I become detached from my own self when I put myself in the drivers' seat in Calypso's contest. There aren't many games that manage to achieve that level of immersion, which is part of the reason why I am so committed to TM. Furthermore, I enjoy being a mysterious figure, since it allows me to cover my own imperfections. It's easy for a person to mask themselves on the internet.

There are a lot of people on this site who I think are awesome personalities, and are probably very intriguing people in real life. Regardless, I like the digital barrier that exists. It makes it much easier to flush out the drama llamas, and surround yourself with well-meaning individuals you can share mutual respect with. There are some players out there I don't respect, and have even been disrespectful towards me, but I'm not here for conflict. The remarkable thing about the internet is that if you simply ignore these naysayers, they'll fade away. I do my part in maintaining a positive environment, and am drawn to others that do the same.

Thats the problem, you let your guard down, start talking to people and connecting to them, and thats when u fuse "real life" with the gaming world. I built some relationships with people that I thought were cool, and looked forward to playing with these people night after night.Started playing with these people exclusively, I even spoke about personal matters with these players.Like a Twisted metal family of sorts lol. Then one day drama creeped in and shit happened. Even though I have never met these players I created a bond with them, and when shit went down I got seriously angry at them and took it personal. Thought about how n why they would do what they did. I should of never got that emotionally attatched. It's only a game and these people owe me nothing. It's my fault for not keeping the gaming world seperate.
