I'll leave my comments out of it. Here's the official Press Release, straight from PixelBionic:

Santa Ana, CA - May 16 @ 7:30AM/PST, 2013 - Pixelbionic, an independent game developer committed to creating immersive action games, today announced that David Jaffe, legendary creator of gaming milestones Twisted Metal and God of War, has joined the company's advisory board as a Creative Advisor for its inaugural project, vehicular combat game AutoduelTM. Jaffe is the latest addition to Pixelbionic's development 'Dream Team', assembled for the game by co-founders Maxx Kaufman - a founding member of InXile Entertainment and Art Director of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Kingpin: Life of Crime and The Bard's Tale, and Mike Arkin - a Studio Head and Producer with over 150 published titles, including Die Hard Trilogy, Battlezone and the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series.

Other key members of the Autoduel team include designer Scot Kramarich - Lead Designer of Interstate '82 and Designer on Interstate '76 - and coder Rafael Paiz - Senior Programmer on The Matrix: Path of Neo and Programmer on Redneck Rampage and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Joining David Jaffe on Pixelbionic's advisory board are Zack Norman - creator of Interstate '76, and Chanel Summers - a recognized leader in the field of interactive audio who while at Microsoft was instrumental in the design of the Xbox hardware's audio capabilities.

Autoduel is a PC online multiplayer game which pays homage to epic car combat games of the past such as Interstate '76 and Twisted Metal-while offering gamers the chance to see what can be accomplished when a talented team of experienced developers is unleashed on modern hardware with cutting-edge graphics and online multiplayer capabilities. The game combines the high-octane thrills and spills of team-based car combat with RPG-influenced persistence and progression gameplay.

In a post-apocalyptic future, warriors drive to survive in their tricked-out, heavily armed vehicles scavenged from the blistered landscape, armed with a deadly array of lethal weaponry. Autoduel features team-based combat in a variety of open arenas from abandoned cities to dried-up riverbeds. Players choose from over twenty unique cars which are divided into three warring factions - the Ratters, the Scavengers and the Techies. The cars can all receive a wide variety of upgrades, from mechanical modifications to the drivetrain and suspension, to a broad array of powerful weapons and protective armor which can be bolted onto the vehicles. Additionally, players can extensively customize the paintwork and add decals in order to show their allegiance and express their unique style.

"I was super excited when I heard Pixelbionic's vision for Autoduel," said Pixelbionic creative advisor David Jaffe. "As a huge fan of the genre, I'm really looking forward to contributing to the game's vision and design goals."

Pixelbionic was founded to create spirited games such as Autoduel that are ignored by publishers, leaving the door open to independent developers supported by fans of the genre. Autoduel development funding will be crowdsourced, with a Kickstarter campaign launching soon.

"Our mission is to assemble a team of car combat visionaries to deliver the game fans want to not only play but also help create," said Pixelbionic co-founder and President Mike Arkin. "Autoduel pairs the vision of the best talent in the industry with the enthusiasm and support of gamers, a combination we are confident will set the bar for what can be achieved in a new PC vehicular combat game."

More details on the Autoduel Kickstarter campaign will be released shortly, with additional core members of the development team expected to be revealed over the coming weeks.

About Pixelbionic

Located in the heart of pre-apocalyptic Southern California, Pixelbionic is an independent developer focused on games which are built around the ideals of no-holds-barred hardcore fast-paced action and a vibrant online community, as embodied by its inaugural project, the PC online multiplayer car combat game Autoduel. The game will be developed by a 'dream team' that includes primary creators of great car games of the past including Interstate '76 and Twisted Metal. Pixelbionic was co-founded in 2012 by Mike Arkin and Maxx Kaufman, two industry veterans with numerous top-selling games to their credit.

A founding member of Grey Matter Studios and InXile Entertainment, Pixelbionic CEO Kaufman moved from creating special effects for the film industry into gaming 18 years ago. He has been Art Director and Director on top-selling games including Kingpin: Life of Crime, the Redneck Rampage series, The Bard's Tale, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Prior to becoming Pixelbionic's President, Arkin spent over 25 years creating video games as a Producer and Studio Head in both publishing and development roles. While working at Acclaim, Fox, Activision, and Crave, he shipped over 150 titles including Die Hard Trilogy, the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series, Battlezone, UFC, Global Operations and WWF Wrestlemania. In 2006, his studio, Zono Inc., was acquired by leading games publisher Mumbo Jumbo.

Omg holy shit! I don't have time and I can't read all of it! But the title and the first few paragraphs has peaked my interest!!!

Although it's probably just speculation due to leaked info that has spread into rumors. As awesome, and badass as a new TM would be, I highly doubt it.

Haha, nope. It's an official press release sent out by the company he is going to be working with, and it has quotes from Jaffe himself. I imagine he'll say something on Twitter if he hasn't already.

Sounds like Twisted Metal with possibly more complicated driving mechanics and RPG-esque progression. My interest is too piqued.

QuotePC game?! Nooooobody plays those anymore
Who gives a fhuk? It's a fhuking hope for the future of our love for this genre! They say it's on PC.. We don't know if it's only PC! Plus.. even if it was. In this fhuking day and age you can port PC games onto consoles anyway. Japanese games can be played... In ENGLISH on a american PS3 that's how complex this age is. Plus It's probably not even JUST for PC, there is still talk going around. and no one knows the exact details or facts yet anyway. save the accusations for twitter. (Not tryign to coem off as an ass i'm just messing with you xD)

QuoteWait what does a new tm have to do with this?
Are you insane...? Car Combat... New... David Jaffe.... What more do you need? LMAO!

Who cares if it's Twisted Metal or Auto Duel. I'll take a car combat game on any platform made by anyone for almost any price. This is great news.

I disagree. The games sales were actually amazing, so there you are wrong. The games prolonged profit SUCKED ass because of the launch issues. Nothing more. It's a niche genre, so yes not as many people will buy it as much as people buy Call of Booty. But the fans of TM are here and we are here to stay. the most hardcore of us. It's like used to tell Larebear all the time. Imagine this fhuking game with everyting we love about it right now. Except with a ALIVE COMMUNITY WITH A MASSIVE amount of players and fun things happening every week. Bustling servers of countless lobbies. Then having no stupid errors or pointless glitches that ruin the fun and the competitiveness for everyone? SHIT I'D BE MAGNATIZED TO THIS GAME. Which is saying alot because I ALREADY AM! This would probably be without a doubt... one of the best game experiences on earth.. think about it. Our friends who we have who have just said "f this" and left the community would still be here. The game WOULD HAVE DLC FOR ANOTHER.

QuoteIronic how jaffe said he's done with twisted metal and then moves onto another car combat game... I doubt one more non Twisted Metal car combat game is goin to spark a new generation of tms... When this game has the same low sales, nothing is going to change.
No Sony or any other publisher to jew them of their money and owning the rights to the IP, the developer can do whatever they want to.
Still, kickstarter is a scam website.

A "TM" that aint broken sounds interesting though.

I have been meaning to quote this actually. This is ridiculous. What did jaffe say before TM PS3? He had so many people bugging him about "OMG THAT TM LEAK FOR PS3 DUDE YOU ARE TOTALLY MAKING A NEW TM!!!!" Jaffe repeatedly told them false information.. Lied to them. Why? It's a good marketting tool. Let me explain: What if someone has hopes they have expectations that something new is comming out that they will enjoy. Well If a dev tells them oh no sorry dude. Not happening. They will be caught off gaurd when it actually becomes announced! remind me again how E3 2011 went...? Oh yeah

Random SONY Employee: And now a game genre that has been dead for almost a decade....... A game genre which is sony's LONGEST RUNNING FRANCHISE. Everyones like... well wtf this has to be good what is it? *ICE CREAM TRUCK SPEEDS ONTO THE STAGE* Well shit it's TM! Jaffe lied to us! How do you think that helped hype? Gaming news: Holy shit NEW TM AFTER GAURANTEED FALSE!

Think about it? Why would he say for so long.. Oh fuck it I'm done with TM. Maybe he is... No one knows... But maybe he just used it to throw us off. He did say If I ever do It wont be soon. So no one knows but him himself and those involved in the project. As far as I know.. Jaffe's pissed with SONY's failure to contribute to the games help of the net problems.. Do you think JAffe doesn't care that he put out a game that half the population of people who bought it can't play without getting some retarded error? Fu ck no.

QuoteWell, PC has no lag. PC is almost mandatory if you like RTS and Open World games. If I had the money for a gaming computer I'd be gone for good.
My brother is a PC gamer and he calls you a liar

Yup...RTS and MMOs are a PC playground. And point and click shooters. Gotta love Bejeweled with human targets and blood

Really? A gaming computer is all that keeps you on consoles? So I am guessing you'll be in PCland when the next gen hits...one can build a decent to good gaming rig for about $500. Unless you're talking about the constant upgrading to keep it top of the line, affording one shouldn't be that big of an obstacle. Consoles are where the real games are anyways, IMO. Controller in hand. Pure gaming should be done with a controller. Mouse and keyboard are for games that controllers can't pull off (hence RTS and MMO and lazy man's point and click CoD/CS:GO)

Considering Jaffe's apparently significant clout in the console realm, especially with Sony themselves, I wouldn't be at ALL surprised to see this game make its way to PS4. THe architecture is very PC-esque and Sony seems to be developing a HUGE backing for independent games.

Bet we see Autoduel on PSN at some point, if not the same day as PC.

QuoteCrush.... Crush.... Crush.....

My first and only Love with a FPS is with a mouse and a keyboard
Then, Sir, you are on my "make fun of that guy's PC gaming habits" list

I have spite for PC FPS gamers, for some reason. Mostly because back when the internet was starting to take off, the PC gamers would come on and bash us because of our inferior console game graphics. Been dealing with you lot for decades now ::finger::

EDIT - Haha you made me reminisce...going into AOL chat rooms for video games and LITERALLY being invaded by PC gamers who invented the term "flaming" and we were the recipients of the heat. Funny how back then it was such a pain in the ass but today I can look back fondly on that memory

Oh if only pc elitists could read some of your comments on how consoles are better than pc they would go apeshit. Basically this is what pc elitists think of console gamers.

Good thing that I despise pc elitists. Anyways im intrigued about this game.
